Join local herbalist, forager and chef Jess Starwood on a walk through the wild to explore, identify and taste the local abundance of spring in Southern California.
In this class, we will explore what edible and medicinal herbs, flowers, fruits, and mushrooms are found in the wild this time of year and what you can do with them for your health and vitality. We will discuss basic identification skills, foraging ethics and best practices, plus common and obscure uses for plants and fungi that we find.
After the walk (usually 1.5-2 miles), we will enjoy a seasonal selection of prepared wild foods by Jess Starwood—noted as one of the most creative chefs in Ventura County by Edible Ojai & Ventura County magazine in 2019.
